| HIPP x RGB Nail Foundation in F1. |
I love trying nail polish brands outside of my favorites—Essie, Revlon, and Chanel—so I couldn’t resist ordering a bottle of Nail Foundation by HIPP x RGB after reading about it in the February 2012 issue of Lucky. RGB is a brand out of LA by Gina Carney. HIPP refers to Jenna Hipp, a celebrity manicurist. The two teamed up to create Nail Foundation, which comes in 4 shades and is meant to give you nude nails, so you select the shade closest to your skin tone. I went with F1, the lightest shade.

Carney said in Lucky that her favorite way to wear Nail Foundation is one coat of it topped with her favorite sheer neutral and that’s what worked well for me too. Two coats of F1 was too beige for me, but one base coat of F1 followed by a coat of Essie’s Ballet Slippers and I have my new favorite neutral manicure—pale caramel-pink and perfect for any occasion.

I was impressed by the application of F1, it’s thin, goes on smoothly, and dries fast. One coat of F1 is great, even better than clear polish—a hint of color and a lot of shine—but I know I will be topping it with Ballet Slippers and my other favorite neutrals because I never get tired of a ladylike pale nail.

This is how I do my nails every day..it has been a long time since I had a color! Thanks for introducing us to a new product!!
What a great idea. I always shy away from the lighter colors because they require so many coats of polish to not look sheer. I will have to tell my manicurist about this product.

Your nails and mine could be twins today.
It's like wearing pearls on your fingers!
I am wearing OPI's hearts and tarts!
I like that several coats last so much longer too.
I am a fan of good nail varnish, since I don't have loads of them. Lucky is great source for learning about new brands, etc. I like RGB so I'll have to try this new one! :) xo
Hi Pam, you gotta try some orange! I insist! That L'Oreal Boozy Brunch would look great on you! XO, Jill
Hi Adrienne, I will be curious if your manicurist knows about this brand. Maybe yes since it's from California. F1 was opaque right away and was definitely so after two coats. XO, Jill
Hi Hostess, how have you been? I have to try the OPI shade you mentioned. I love pale nails and I've heard good things about 'Hearts and Tarts.' I also love that we are nail twins! XO, Jill
Madison my dear, you already knew about RGB? I hadn't heard of them before the Lucky article so it was a nice introduction. I really like some of their edgy dark shades so I'm definitely going back for more. XO, Jill
