IFB Cocktail Party & Conference

At the pre-IFB Conference Cocktail Party at the Mandarin Oriental in Manhattan with Tea of The Brunette World, left, and Sonia of In Pursuit of Style, center. Photo by Ivie Ero of My So-Called Corporate Life.

I will let the pictures do the talking. I had a great time at both events put on by the Independent Fashion Bloggers. Tuesday night was the pre-IFB Con Cocktail Party held at the swanky Mandarin Oriental in Manhattan (thank you Vahni of Grit & Glamour for inviting me) and Wednesday was the conference. I went to both with the charming and beautiful Bella of the Citizen Rosebud, who is so fun to hang out with, I wish she lived in Brooklyn so I could see her all the time. It was exciting to meet so many different bloggers and to hear what people at the forefront of the community had to say during the panels. If you get a chance to attend this conference in the future, you have to do it.

Can I tell you how much I love this photo of me with Ari Seth Cohen of Advanced Style? Photo by Ivie Ero of My So-Called Corporate Life.

The line to get into Milk Studios, the IFB Conference venue.

This one makes me laugh every time. Standing in line with Bella of the Citizen Rosebud.

After one of the conference panels.

A Missoni-wearing puppet. It was hard not to stare at this thing the whole time. The puppeteers had her 'Tweeting' on her iPhone and looking around and blinking. On the wall behind her were the live Tweets going on about the conference.

Hi Pam, I don't know if a post on what I learned would be helpful, it seemed so scattered: panelists talked of their love of Twitter, their mixed feelings on Facebook and the belief that YouTube and vlogging would be the next big thing. A lot of what I learned seemed personal--I'm getting better at mingling but still need practice and I need to do SO much more to be anywhere near the level of plenty of the bloggers I met that day. I loved what Ari from StyleCaster said about using your blog as a resume, which was sort of my idea all along.

Hi Sacramento, I would've loved to have you sitting with Bella and me at the conference! Is there any chance you could come in February? I would be so excited to meet you in person and I gotta tell you, I think you'd be a BIG hit at the conference. I know people would recognize you!

Hi Kimberlee! Thanks for stopping by and it was so great to meet you at the conference! I would love to join the NYC group for blogging pow-wows. That sounds so great. Thanks for sending me the link!

Hi Paula, if I had know you were thinking of coming to NYC for this conference I would've campaigned for you to do it! February, maybe? I would love to meet you and it's nice to go with someone. We'd have a great time!

Hi Adrienne, you would probably laugh to know what I put myself through regarding what to wear. I always overthink it. The cocktail party was a lot easier to plan for because you can't go wrong with sequins and Chanel!

Hi Terri, it was so fantastic to meet Vahni, who just killed it in her super sexy dress and high heels when she walked into the MO Bar for the cocktail party, coming out of the rain, looking so glamorous! And Bella was so tall and beautiful and a complete natural with people, she put me at ease as soon as we were on the platform waiting for the F train! I can't BELIEVE I got to meet Ari of Advanced Style and didn't realize Ivie of My So-Called Corporate Life had taken our picture! He was completely gracious and humble, talking about how shy he was to approach people on the street at first for a picture and how his original pictures weren't good at all. He said he got a better camera, but that sometimes he is still overcome with shyness, lets someone go by he wants to talk to, and then chases her down the street. I love that! I think I'm going to put that picture of us on my sidebar, it's too great to let it disappear!

Hi Veshoevius, it was really good to spend so much time with Bella going in and out of the city on the train for both events. It felt like I got a bonus IFB Conference. My prediction is that she is going to find herself on a panel of theirs sometime soon. She has a lot of knowledge, good opinions and advice, fantastic style and can build rapport with people immediately, which is a true gift. I am one of her biggest fans!
