Color Me Pink (and Black)

I couldn’t resist adding a tiny Eiffel Tower. I am an Eiffel Tower nut.

I bought this pink rhinestone bracelet awhile ago, long enough now that I can’t remember where, exactly, I got it from. I just recall that my mother and I were at Macy’s and saw similar bracelets for $50 or more and after deciding to pass on that price we were able to track down something similar for about $10 each at a shop near Macy’s on Broadway (I think).

I put the bracelet away for a long time because I thought it was too sweet and too pink. Then I came across it recently, put on some Chanel Black Satin nail polish, paired it with my regular Fossil watch, and realized that the black nail and the blue face of the watch help tone down the sugary look of such sparkly pink rhinestones! I love this combination and I’ve been getting a lot of compliments when I wear it this way.

Of course it’s endless kid chores around here so along with the pink bracelet and black nails I’m running around in a pair of Levi’s, a black J. Crew Jackie cardigan with a black longsleeved T-shirt underneath. My son has middle school interviews next week. For admission into New York City public middle schools! I have to prep a 10-year-old boy to go on interviews! I am beginning to understand why lifelong New Yorkers can be so competitive and tough.

I hope the pink sparkle bracelet and black nail polish will help me stay positive. Especially under the foot of snow they are now predicting for all five boroughs!

Have you ever recycled an accessory you already owned just by changing how you wear it?

Was the shop Cinderella jewelry? Very pretty bracelet, I like how you are rocking it with the polish.

It reminds me of a Sherman bracelet that my Mother owns...lovely indeed!
Middle school interviews sound like they could be quite stressful. I hope that your son is calm and collected. It's good experience for a young man as there probably will be many more interviews in his future.
Love your polished yet casual look today!

I would have avoided the black polish but after seeing it with the bracelet and watch, I really like the look. You are brilliant Jill...Stay safe...I hope it will not be as bad as the predictions are.

I would have not worn black either, but I like the look on you! The pink bracelet doesn't look too "sweet" (although I really like pink) and the black not too "harsh". Great combo!
Gosh, interviews for children? How bad is that, poor kids! Good luck for your son! And good luck with the snow...we even hear it hear in Europe on the news ;-)
Take care and have a very HAPPY weekend :-)

What a gorgeous bracelet! I hope you won't get snowed in but please get some pictures of snow in NY for us! It must look beautiful!

I had a similar vintage rhinestone bracelet in college that got lent to a friend and never returned home. But recently I've collected several rhinestone bracelets that I'm happy to wear with anything. I'll definitely be trying the black polish.

My daughter lives in NYC now and hubby and I love it so much that we're planning a move there. But I'll be happy I don't have any children at home to prep for middle-school! Wow, 'round here, all ya have to do is show up...lol.
