Le Volume de Chanel Mascara

I was back at Bloomingdale’s for the holiday season and I decided to snap up some high-end beauty items with my employee discount. You know I can’t resist Chanel so I decided to try their new Le Volume de Chanel mascara, which came out in November. I normally never splurge on mascara since this is an item you can get at a great price with good quality (usually) from a drugstore.

Simple packaging. Have you noticed how low-key designer logos have become?

I have to say, however, the old adage “You get what you pay for” definitely applies here. This is one of the best mascaras I have ever used, dare I say THE best? It makes my lashes look so long, the separation is great, and I think it gives lashes the right amount of fullness without overdoing it and without clumping. My lashes are still super long after wearing this for more than 8 hours. It is only sold in “Noir” and it is pricey at $30 but if you want a luxe mascara to start 2013, this is the one to get!

Chanel calls this their 'snowflake' wand because the bristles have different lengths.

On a completely unrelated side note, I wanted to share this picture I took of Bloomingdale’s in their holiday lights, which I love.

I took this photo after work one night. Surprising not to see any cars or taxis!

I will have to try this mascara once I run out of my current brand. Sounds like a winner!
Great photo of Bloomies! NYC is so sparkly and festive during the holidays.

I love that picture of Bloomingdale's. When I was young and lived in the northeast, my mom would take me into NYC during the holidays to see all the decorated windows. I really miss living near a large city, especially during the holidays.

I still think it is so cool that you work at Bloomingdales during the holidays! I know it is probably insane, but I think it would be fun. I would use that employee discount to do things like this as well!!

You work at Bloomingsdale's over the holidays? That sounds very interesting ;-) Tell us some stories - the craziest, the nicest, the most obnoxious customer or something like that?
I usually use the cheap brands, after checking them out in a German magazine called Oeko-Test, they look at products and their ingredients, how they work etc and the last Chanel mascara they tasted was classified with a "D" (if you go by school rating). I use the cheap ones they recommend and sometimes I'll splurge on a YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils - my alltime favourite. But now I might try this Chanel, if my current mascara is empty... Have a good day, dear Jill :-) xo

I wonder if this mascara comes in waterproof. If so, I might have to try it out. Right now I wear Bobbie Brown No Smudge exclusively because, while it doesn't have a huge impact on lash length, it's the only waterproof I've ever tried that truly stays put. Even during rainy bike rides.

Do employees get a discount on Chanel bags?
I would so get a job there!

Jill I think une femme reviewed this and was in love with it too! I did some mascara recommendations the other day too. I havent used chanel beauty products in a while; I go with the professional brands rather than retail. but with the 2 of you recommending--its worth a try!
