O’doodleDoo’s Donuts

I am visiting my family in Virginia right now and when my sister-in-law mentioned a little donut shop in Suffolk called O’doodleDoo’s Donuts, that made odd donut flavors like Blueberry Pancakes and Bacon, Red Velvet Cream Cheese, and White Chocolate Pretzel, I knew I had to check it out. I was not disappointed, this place is amazing! It’s a single location right off Bridge Road in Suffolk, Virginia, and if you ever find yourself anywhere nearby, you have to stop here!

Clockwise from top right: Sour Lemon Coconut, Chocolate Fancy Pants, Key Lime Pie, Maple Stripe.

O’doodleDoo’s changes its menus daily so the day we went we tried Sour Lemon Coconut (I love anything lemon), Key Lime Pie, and Maple Stripe. My son tried Chocolate Fancy Pants, which is easily the most beautiful (and glamorous) donut I have ever seen. Unfortunately he wanted it all to himself so I didn’t get to try it. I loved all three flavors I sampled but my favorite was easily the Sour Lemon Coconut, which had a perfect balance of sweet, tart, and coconutty!

One of my little assistants and the O'doodleDoo's Rooster.

I predict a return visit before we head back to Brooklyn. With so many nationwide chains these days, I love little one-off food places like O’doodleDoo’s. I find them special, inspiring, and wonderful!

What a gorgeous donut!

That looks like heaven. Donuts are my culinary vice of choice.

I am very happy to be living very far away from what would be, for me, a crack shack of donuts. I am ogling the Chocolate Fancy Pants. I want it now. Now!

It's been ages since I've had a donut, but I'm partial to cake donuts and now you've got my mouth watering. Be sure to report on the second visit as well.

Hi Jane, I never really think of donuts, so this place was a revelation! It is such a great idea, and so different from the cupcake craze, that I couldn't help but be charmed by it. Plus, when you walk in the shop it smells like heavenly heaven. I wish you were here to go with me because I am making a return trip! XO, Jill

Hi Rebekah, you are so funny, and crack shack of donuts is so true! I saw people there who walked right in and knew exactly what they wanted (the choices are staggering), so I have a feeling there are plenty of customers who are going to this place several times a week. I'm so glad I don't live closer, because I would be one of them. XO, Jill

Hi Terri, oh we have another thing in common, I am usually all about just plain ol' cake donuts, without a thing on them. But that Sour Lemon Coconut was so good, it's a cake donut with a light lemon frosting, then sprinkled with coconut. It was perfect and I want another one right now! XO, Jill
