How I Wear My: Red, White and/or Blue

My sartorial version of the stars and stripes. All by J. Crew!

For this month’s “How I Wear My” post, Adrienne of The Rich Life (on a budget) and I decided it’s all about the red, white and blue. We have those colors on our minds because of Independence Day on July 4 (and of course our French friends celebrate Bastille Day July 14), but plenty of countries around the world also have flags featuring red, white and blue. All patriotism aside, they are just wonderful colors for summer!

I thought it would be fun to turn to red, white and blue accessories for this post when I realized I had more of them than I thought.

I saw a lot of ladies wearing white watches last summer and I loved the look of it so I picked up a white Timex on eBay to wear this summer. The band is a little pearlized and shimmery, which was impossible to see in the online photos and not really what I was going for, but I like the watch anyway.

Oh look, it's time for a cocktail.

I have yet to wear the combination of my red Timex tank with my bleu electrique Hermès Behapi bracelet, but I might try it out soon, maybe with a deep navy shirt and white pants.

I don’t know that I would actually wear both of these rings in combination with my wedding band but then I see pictures of Rachel Zoe wearing her huge Cartier rings in stacks and think, Oh why not? Both rings were birthday gifts—the ruby and diamond ring for my 30th birthday, the sapphire and diamond eternity band for my 18th birthday, which I picked out myself!

I never get tired of sapphires, rubies and diamonds!

For August we are going to have a little Chanel party. August 19 is the birthday of Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, who gave the fashion world so many timeless wardrobe staples—the little black dress, the cardigan jacket, black and white worn together, quilted bags, loads of costume jewelry, ropes of pearls (real and faux), and two-tone cap-toe shoes, to name a few. Even if you don’t have a stitch of Chanel in your closet—and really, who can afford it?—Adrienne and I just know you can put together an outfit using some of Chanel’s ideas of classic feminine style. So please join us on August 1 for “How I Wear My: Chanel-Inspired Outfit.” Coco would want you to!

Please do stop by The Rich Life (on a budget) to see the different ways Adrienne and the other participants wear their red, white and blue.

Happy 4th of July!

I love your look - classic but fun with the sequins.
The stacked ring look is very chic and now. Maybe try wearing them like that for few days to see if you get used to it.

The watch is feminine and modern. A great addition to your outfit. It really stands out in your photo.

Looking forward to everyone's Coco look in August!'
Another successful How I Wear My...so fun!

Love all the red, white and blue bling - Great take on the stars and stripes - I recently did a red, white and blue themed outfit with my Union Jack jacket for the queen's jubilee here - I should have submitted that post oh well...
It's actually a really fun colour combination when you have the excuse of a flag based holiday to dress up in them!

Very tasteful--I always find this color combination challenging. You should wear both of your watches with the Hermes band--all at once. Set one to Paris time. I'm glad to have a long time to think about the Chanel look!
