Alex and Ani Mermaid Slider Charm Bangle

A set of Alex and Ani bangles with the Mermaid Slider Charm Bangle in the center.

When a representative for Alex and Ani reached out to me last spring to ask if I’d like to receive an Alex and Ani bangle, how could I say no? During one of my holiday stints working in the fashion jewelry department at Bloomingdale’s, I remember being asked by customers, many times a day, where the Alex and Ani bangles could be found, so I was already aware of their popularity among ladies of all ages looking for stackable bracelets, either for themselves or to give as a gift.

What a fun surprise to have my doorbell ring months later and a glamorous little gift given to me by a messenger. “Somebody likes you,” he said with a wink as I signed for the black and gold bag.

I love their great packaging.

The bangles came tied with a velvet ribbon.

Inside was a box with not one but three bangles from their Summer 2015 collection! They sent me the Mermaid Slider Charm Bangle, as well as the Urchin Odyssey Beaded Bangle and the Sea Glass Unchartered Voyage Wrap. I can see why these bangles are so coveted—what a great way to add sparkle, color and shine to any outfit! They are really comfortable to wear as a stack and I like that they are easily expandable and adjustable by gently pulling them apart or pushing the ends back together. I loved the orange with the turquoise, which was set off by the gold, and the mermaid charm makes the whole stack so perfect for the summer, whether you are headed to the beach or not.

I love the key words used to symbolize the mermaid!

A bit of the history of mermaid lore.

If you are looking for a way to add some inexpensive seaside glamour to your late-summer outfit I highly recommend these bangles, individually, or as a set! These particular bangles retail for just $28 each, with the exception of the Sea Glass Unchartered Voyage Wrap, which is $38, and are available over at the Alex and Ani website, where they have an amazing collection of bangles to choose from. Don’t forget that Alex and Ani jewelry is lovingly designed and made in the USA. The company was founded by Carolyn Rafaelian, who is a believer in the power of positive energy and the use of talismans and symbols to provide, as their website says, “protection, power, or intention.”

Since I was a Navy brat and grew up surrounded by symbols of seafaring legend, it could not be more perfect for Alex and Ani to have sent me a bangle with a mermaid charm. It felt so personal!

A colorful and feminine stack!

I love these bangles with orangey-red nails and a gold clutch!

With the deep colors in the bangles I couldn’t help but want to pair them with an orangey-red nail polish. This one is “Caught Red-Handed” by L’Oreal.

Don’t you just love this glamorous gold mermaid?

If you own any Alex and Ani bangles I would love to hear about which ones are your favorite and why!

Disclosure: The Alex and Ani bangle set was sent to me by the company, but all opinions expressed here are my own. Thank you to Alex and Ani!
