Wink by ICU Eyewear

Sweets, confetti, and cute readers from Wink by ICU Eyewear. Count me in!

Earlier this year, at her impromptu Oscar-watching party, a dear friend of mine saw me holding out my phone to read a text and said, “You need readers.”

I said, “No I don’t.”

“Yes you do.” She smiled, took the pair off the top of her head, and handed them to me. I put them on.

Well.

The text (from my mother, if you’d like to know, and we were talking about how great Jane Fonda looked) became clearer and sharper, without my having to hold the phone out any further away from my eyes.

“Huh,” I said.

My friend gave me her I-told-you-so smile.

I love this blue geometric-patterned pair.

I didn’t rush out to buy a pair of readers, but I noticed at my local CVS that most of the readers they had are too strong for me (I only need a +1.00 at this stage) and they were all terribly boring in terms of style. They had black, brown, hot pink, frameless, and that was it.

My friend gave me her readers before she left on summer vacation with a new pair and I will admit, I’ve been using them more than I thought I would. Sometimes for texting, but you know when they are most helpful, when precision and clarity are even more important?

When tweezing eyebrows!

Since the readers I have are secondhand I am in the market for a new pair. So it was interesting timing that I heard from ICU Eyewear about their Wink readers for women. They are very affordable and there are lots of styles to choose from. Guys can get in on the act too with the Dr. Dean line. I don’t have any hang-ups about wearing glasses—if I need them, I need them. To me a pair of readers (or several) would be just another accessory where I can have a bit of fun with the style or colors.

So in that respect, Wink by ICU Eyewear has turned my head!

Here, kitty kitty. These make me think of tiger stripes. So of course I love them.

If you are in the market for readers too, give ICU Eyewear a look! Even better, vote on your favorite pair, and you might just win them for free! ICU Eyewear is giving away 1,000 pairs of reading glasses from both the Dr. Dean and Wink collections.

I am also digging these with the flowers.

Enter the Read In Style Giveaway here. One entry per email address. You can enter through August 27, 2013.

Good luck and let me know if you win a pair!

Thank you to ICU Eyewear for sponsoring this post!

Jill,

These are such cute readers - you should see my current pair. They are awful! I can't wait to get my new readers from ICU Eyewear. I chose the tiger or tortoise shell style but the blue ones are super cute too. It was hard to choose!

It WAS hard to choose! I settled on the pair of blue with the geometric designs and I won a pair, yay! I can't wait to get them and style them in an outfit. XO, Jill

I love the idea of glasses as fashion accessories.

My brother is barely nearsighted, and picked up glasses in Japan super cheap. Most people wear contacts, so to get business, glasses have a lot of frame selection and are inexpensive so they can be used as accessories.

Hi Aya! I think ICU Eyewear must think the same way as the companies in Japan you describe--lots of styles at great prices, so people will want to own more than one pair. I definitely think of them as fashion accessories and of course I want to own several pairs. I hope you enter the giveaway! XO, Jill

Hi Jill-It happened to me in Paris at age 42-I couldn't read the 'dumb' map. Husband handed me his readers and it was my aha moment. The bad news is we will continue to need stronger correction but the good news is they are making them very stylish these days. Love your choice here.
Happy Weekend!
