It’s a few days into 2013 and maybe you, like Adrienne of The Rich Life (on a budget) and me, need a sartorial palate cleansing after a month or more of sparkle and shine! While coming down off the holiday high, it’s so great to get back to the chic basics of Black & White.
What I love most about black and white is how I never get tired of it. In any season, whether day or night, it’s always simple, it can be so striking, and it looks great with a red lip or red nails! Most of the outfit pieces seen here have been in my closet for awhile, but the long Carolee jet necklace is new and I couldn’t resist the chance to pair it with a rope of faux pearls that I’ve had for over 20 years. I wasn’t sure it would work but I ended up loving the combination. I think Coco would approve!

Here’s another way I love to wear black and white, which I have shown before:
I bought this vintage Chanel a few years ago from Fashionphile, an online seller of gently used designer bags. They also have boutiques in Beverly Hills and San Francisco. The prices of new Chanel bags are now so out of control that I shudder to think of what this baby flap would cost on the resale market. The black and white detailing is exactly why I sprung for this. It is so unusual in a Chanel bag and I still love it!
