Christmas in New York 2012: Bergdorf Goodman

I went to Bergdorf Goodman a few weeks ago at night to photograph their holiday 2012 windows, which are as glorious as ever. The details and glamour are always amazing and the clothes, my God, the clothes! I dream in feathers, sequins and beads (was I a Vegas showgirl in my last life?), so the dresses by Marchesa, Tom Ford, Naeem Khan, and Alexander McQueen are just beyond.

The dress is from Marchesa by special order only.

This year’s windows theme is the “BG Follies.” With their jazz age feel they leave me even more excited for next summer’s movie release of The Great Gatsby. I think F. Scott Fitzgerald would love these windows, don’t you?

These weren’t all of the windows but they were definitely my favorites.

A Naeem Khan cape.

Dress by Tom Ford.

Dress and boots by Alexander McQueen.

I love these boots.

Dresses by Naeem Khan by special order.

Naeem Khan’s exquisite beading is inspired by saris from his native India.

This vertiginous window is how it appears as you face it!

I love this look and I love this shot!

I hope you are having a wonderful holiday season!

Thank you so much for this. When I was a kid my mom would take me to NYC during Christmas to see all the amazing window displays in the dept. stores. I miss that so much. I love New York this time of year. Naeem Khan’s fabulous gown and cape, WOW.

Gorgeous windows and I would love to know how you get such good photos without reflection from the glass. Do you use a special lens?

Hello Vegas show girl!
As always your selection is gorgeous!
Each of these dresses are to die for. The roaring 1920's seem to be THE theme of the year. The success of movies such "Midnight in Paris" and "The Artist" might be the reason of it, don't you think?
Big hug to my favorite NYC blogger who knows how to show us the best of her beloved city :-)

What amazing window displays! I would have loved to have seen these up close! My nose would have been pressed to the glass of every window drinking in those feathers and sequins. Show girl in a previous life? Me too!

Thank you for all the kind comments, ladies! I really do love the Bergdorf Goodman windows, they never fail to inspire me. As for photos, I am using a regular old Canon point-and-shoot digital camera, no flash or anything. I take pictures of the Xmas windows at night because I am just down the street working a holiday job at Bloomingdale's (which sadly decided to NOT put clothes in their holiday windows, which I don't understand because they sell gorgeous clothes at that store) and because there are no crowds at night and I don't get the bounce from reflected light that I would get during the day. The BG windows are definitely a perk of NYC living! XO, Jill
