Lace Ace

Talk about knocking it out of the park. On the eve of her 30th birthday in January, how gorgeous was Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, in this stunning Alice by Temperley black lace gown? I love how feminine, demure and yet sexy this look is. I also love how Kate keeps her hair, makeup and jewelry very simple so it doesn’t compete with the dress.

Why don’t you channel some of Kate’s lace beauty and join Adrienne and me for our “How I Wear My: Lace” post on February 1? Send me a picture of how you wear your lace and I will include it in our post that day.

What a great picture. William looks a little like, “You. You checking out my wife? You want I should come over there and kick your ass?” Or maybe that’s Brooklyn, finally getting to me after all these years. Photo by

She really is just breathtaking...the dress fabulous! But, I am so impressed with Kate...she dresses better than any woman in the spotlight I know and she is so young. Amazing!

Her dress reminds me of her wedding dress.
I would love to see hair with a haircut, some style. Maybe even with a different colour, somehow there seems to be too much of medium-brown-lengths all over her shoulders, neck and framing her face.
On the other hand, thousands and millions of girls can identify with her hairstyle, because it's so natural.

Hi Pam, you know, your comment reminds me of something I was just thinking about the other day--whether Kate has a stylist of some kind. I'm inclined to say no, but it would be very interesting to find out, wouldn't it? And lace? Are you in? XO, Jill

Hi Paula, I do think Kate has to keep her hair very tame and sedate and I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that she does have a royal handler telling her as much.

Speaking of hair, what cut did you decide on for yourself? I vote for a choppy bob! XO, Jill

She looks stunning and the dress is so elegant and modern - I love it! Kate always looks so natural and relaxed too.

Hi Jill!

2 more weeks until I am due for the haircut :-)

I would like a choppy look and can imagine a "plain" cut would create the choppy look anyway, since my hair is rather frizzy and dry. I will let the "mastro" decide! And if he messes up, I go back to the super-extravaganza-maestro who initially cut the short haircut (the haircut let alone costs almost as much as colour+cut at my ordinary-but-also-luxury-segment-hairstylist).

I feel that the short hair is much more playful, I can try a new style every two months. A little difference in cutting makes a huge difference in appearance. Whereas the long hair limits experiments to a very, very small range.

Thank you for asking! :-D
